1、 Customs
On Tana Island, whenever there is a festive occasion or a gathering of family and friends, the village always celebrates by slaughtering pigs and cows. If a pig is slaughtered, it must first be tied to a rack, with the chief's son riding on the pig's back. Several strong men then lift it up and circle the village, reciting words in their mouths as a ritual. Then it can be slaughtered to serve the villagers.

Every time a new village is completed on Santo Island in the north, a ceremony for its completion is held. The man was naked, his whole body painted black, and only wrapped a bark cloth around his waist. He wore feathers on his head and a wreath around his ankles. He held a long stick and struck a homemade wooden drum, praying for the blessings of the gods on the village. The ceremony coincided with the return of Guimistiwen, a Vanuatu politician and founder of the Nagoyamyr Movement, to his hometown, adding to the festive atmosphere of the festival.
